AutoLoc Transmission Controls

The BD AutoLoc is a computer that commands the torque convertor lock-up clutch to stay applied when the exhaust brake is engaged. This allows 100% of the retarding force to be transferred in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears and maintains transmission oil temperatures to remain low because convertor slippage no longer occurs in these gears. The lock up clutch automatically disengages at a low speed.

The convertor lock up clutch applies with light accelerator pedal pressure in trucks 89-97' but on the 99, 2000 and 2001 trucks the lock up clutch remains engaged until you hit the brake pedal. If you have exhaust brake on without an AutoLoc, retarding efficiency drops to 5% and the trany fluid heats up!

You can drive with the AutoLoc engaged all the time!
